Daily living aids, also known as aids to daily living (ADLs), are mobility products that can help with everyday activities rather than medical or rehabilitation products. These include items to help with eating, drinking, getting dressed, bathing, walking, reading, writing and cooking.
- Bathing aids such as bath chairs, grab rails, chairs and stools can help make bathing and showering easier.
- Kitchen aids such as jar openers, kettle tippers and tap turners can make food preparation easier. Somebody with a weak grip or limited mobility may benefit from different Cutlery with a thicker handle. Eating and Drinking Aids, such as, a non slip plate or a non spill cup can also help.
- Homecare aids such as bed and chair aids can help people who spend a lot of time in a bed or chair. Elevators and risers can help make getting out of a bed or chair easier.
- Household aids such as key turners can provide additional leverage when unlocking doors. A plug pull makes plugging and unplugging electrical devices from mains sockets easier. Special grips can be fitted to pens, toothbrushes and razors to make daily tasks more manageable.
Some healthcare products are available in several options and several sizes. Where appropriate, the "More" link will provide details of the size and fitting.
In some cases, the manufacturer recommends that the item is only used in certain circumstances, or for certain applications. This is detailed in other help sections.
If a mobility product has been recommended to you by a healthcare professional, and you can't find what you require, please contact us on 01617479222 and we will be pleased to assist you.
The "More" link may recommend that medical advice is taken from your local healthcare provider before purchasing some disability aids, or therapy supplies, such as hoists to ensure suitability.
If you are unsure as to whether a product is suitable for your needs, please contact us on 01617479222 and we will be happy to discuss your requirements. However, we are unable to offer any medical advice.
You don't need to have an account in order to look round our website. If you want to purchase from our extensive range of mobility aids, you will be asked to register when you proceed to the checkout, so that your order can be dispatched.
To process your order correctly we need to take your name, billing address, phone number and email address. This information is used to process your order, and so that we can contact you regarding your order if necessary.
If we need to contact you, we will contact you via email first. If unsuccessful (or time is critical), we will try to contact you by phone.
Any information you provide to Handy Healthcare will only be used for purposes that you have authorised. However, Handy Healthcare may need to provide your name and delivery address to third parties that are involved in the processing of your order (for example, the financial institution that issued your credit card or the courier that delivers your order).
Your information will not be shared with any individual or other companies (such as direct mail organizations or other third parties) unless required by law.
You can help Handy Healthcare update and maintain the accuracy of any personal information you supply by using the account profile pages or notifying us of any changes to your address, title, phone number or e-mail address.
To make searching for and finding our products as easy as possible, here at Handy Healthcare we have painstakingly gone through every product in our file and manually assigned it a list of product tags.
For example, all of our wheeled walking aids have the tag "wheeled walkers"… This means that anybody searching for "wheeled walkers" would immediately be shown all products with that tag, and not just products with the words "wheeled walkers" contained in their title or description.
Our hope is that using these tags will intuitively create new product groups, and that these groups will contain products that are similar to each other, so that you find exactly what you're looking for as quickly as possible and have all the possible alternatives available.
You can find product tags on each page of the healthcare catalogue, and also on each individual product page. Clicking on any product tag will show you all of the products with that tag assigned to it.
If you still aren't sure how to use the product tags to best search for products on our site please contact us and we will be happy to help you find exactly what you need.
